Hai! It's Friday! And this weekend is my birthday weekend! Awesome times ahead! ♥

I'm not planning on doing anything special for the occasion since it's on Sunday and I hate doing stuff on Sunday, but I'm going out with couple of friends tomorrow. We'll just chill and eat sweets and hang out ~~ Good times...

I can't wait for this day to be over so I can go home, take a shower, watch Vampire Diaries (and Nikita) THEN I SHALL WRITE! I won't be able write as much as I want this weekend, I feel it. On top of it, next weekend there's a wedding and our house will be full of guests. No writing at that time either. So tonight's the night. I should at least finish 2 chapters to cover for next weekend's "planned unproductiveness".

Lately, when I look around all I can see is enagaged people. Wtf. I'm kind of depressed. I'm single and probably will be single in the near future and most of my friends -- even the ones who said they'd never get married -- are getting serious with their boyfriend/girlfriends. Meeting with parents, enagement rings, promise rings, etc. etc. And my long-time-single cousin is getting married next weekend. What the F, big time!

The thing I'm dreading the most about that wedding is this question: "So Dilek, when are we going to see your boyfriend?" Urgh, I hate it. I don't have a boyfriend and honestly if there's a store where you can buy one, just gimme the address and I'll gladly pay for it. Yeah, I admit, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO MEET THIS ONE PERSON I'LL SPEND MY ENTIRE LIFE WITH. Can't he just come by my house and knock the door? I promise I'll fall in love in first sight! I can do that! I just need him to find me. Pathetic. I know.

Yeah whatever. This post wasn't intended to be about my woes of being single. I shall put an end to this and go back to work.

7 more work hours to go...

I'm having a really hard time adapting to work today. After 5 days of free-time I feel like somebody slapped me in the face and kicked me out of my house. Plus, I need to take that damn certificate exam this week. Grrr, I remember NOTHING about the subject.

I hate my hair today as well. It's my fault, really. I thought I could fix it when I woke up, but felt so lazy and tired, so I didn't.

Opera browser doesn't work properly on my work computer, so I had to switch to Firefox and I'm too lazy to install add-ons to have the awesome features I readily have on Opera. But I gotta admit, it's a lot faster than Opera. But then again ADD-ONS. I don't want. Too much work. But if you recommend me some, I'll glady check 'em out and make it pretty BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING TO DO TODAY.

I tried changing my layout, because honestly, I couldn't read a thing! After going through almost 20 different css codes, I ended up with a very old one I've already used for a century. I like it. Readable, clean, simple.

I AM SO HIGH MAINTENANCE TODAY.

I saw Parker (from Leverage) in my dream. We were running away from something, don't remember what. There was a pool and I was wearing a hideous black dress whereas Parker was wearing a mini dress completely made of black lace. Wtf. It was almost a sex dream. It even involved a really small elevator. I'm having almost-sex-dreams about Parker. AWESOME!

Now you know how weird I am today, cheers!

I've been attending training since wednesday and it's the most dreadful thing i've done lately. Instructor is absolutely horrible, the material is just too much to learn in 2 days and i have to take a techical sales mastery test to be certified. I have no idea how i will manage to answer 30 questions out of 40 to pass the exam. Ridiculously difficult. Plus we're paying 100$ for this and i'm afraid the company reimburses me only if i pass the test. Awesome.

So all in all; i am 100% bored and want this week to be over already.

And i'm hungry but the instructor have no idea what a break is. Lucky me.

- I'll see Inception tonight, with [livejournal.com profile] glenien. Finally. I'm suprised I was even able to find tickets for its first day, but I did. Awesomesauce. And yeah, it came here a week later >=/ I really don't understand why Twilight movies come on the same day, but for ACTUALLY good movies, we have to wait more. Whatever, I'm expecting my mind to be blown tonight or I'll blame you guys. Be ready.

- I finished Avatar's 2nd season last night. Spoilers ) I'm at the beginning of S3. First few episodes are always boring.

- After a short break I started listening to E.S. Posthumus' Cartographer album again. It's absolutely amazing ♥

- I really want to write this weekend, but I also want to spend it by the pool. Dilemma. They say it's going to be extremely hot this weekend. I don't know. Maybe I can spend some time by the pool, then come back, have a nap and write all night! Sounds like a good plan.

- I have tons of stuff to do at work, but I really don't feel like it :( Too complicated for my weekend brain. Can it be 6pm already?

- The new tag thing started working properly at last. It's pretty good.
thelake: (random: pretend to work)
The project I've been waiting for since last year has finally arrived and I am one of the core developers! First meeting is next Monday and we immediately start working after the meeting! My head is buzzing with excitement! *wants to jump up and down*

I'm so happy guys, you can't imagine! This is extremely good news. I won't be a useless net-surfer all day anymore! Oh god yes, thank you!

Yup, that was by far the best work related news I got this week--month--hell even year!

thelake: (lots: cara no undies land)
- It's been raining heavily in Istanbul since Sunday and it doesn't look like it's gonna stop anytime soon. Floods and drowning victims are all over the news. Sad times... I'm thankful that we're not affected.

- Last week I was in Ankara, visiting my grandma. Good, but boring times. I think I slept for almost 30 hours the whole weekend. There was absolutely nothing to do, so I read the last half of Prisoner of Azkaban, ate and slept.

- I finished Being Erica! It's lovely. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a feel good show. It's exactly that. I'm hoping Drop Dead Diva will fill its void until Fall.

- New Lie to Me! Although I was happy to have my beloved show back, this episode felt a bit out of place. However I gotta give it to Logan Echolls Jason Dohring for being extremely creepy. Good job, Logan!

- I started watching Valentine's Day yesterday, then I got bored in the middle of it and went to bed. I'll continue today, just for the sake of Jennifer Garner. She is ADORABLE! ♥

- I forgot watching Gaga's Alejandro yesterday. I shall remind myself to watch it when I get home today.

- Wow. My life is boring.

- For the first time in my life I financed my own summer vacation and I'm broke. I don't know if I should be happy or sad. I'm leaving on July 14th and coming back on 21st. I'm hoping to have an awesome time. *crosses fingers* We're going to Bodrum with a bunch of friends.

- Yup. That's it. I still don't do anything at work. My life is awesome. Not.
thelake: (btvs: the slayer)
- I started watching Being Erica and it's delighful. I can really relate to Erica being extremely qualified, but still not being able to get what other people have. I don't have as many bad choices as her in my past, but I would love to have a chance to go back and change some stuff. (Although her meddling with the past doesn't necessarily impact her present, but she learns things in the end.)

- I also checked out half of Burn Notice 1x01 but I wasn't in the mood for spy shenanigans so I left it for later. I have the full season 1 on my computer, I'm sure the time will come :) (I promised [livejournal.com profile] katayla that I'll give it a shot!)

- I brought Prisoner of Azkaban with me to work. I really don't care what others think of my "reading activities", if you give me something to do I'd gladly put my extra-curricular activities aside and serve the purpose, but I'll go crazy (or seriously depressed) if I spend another day surfing the internet.

- I'm mildly depressed this week, I think it's because of the huge gap I had to leave between my birth control pills. My hormones are kind of confused. I'll never do that again.

- I can't stop listening to Lady GaGa. I thought I was over her, but apparently not. Show me your teeth.

- I'm so looking forward to the concert tomorrow. I really need to be around people I love. My brother will be there too! Yay! (Except I had to buy the tickets for him as well. Working big sister is spending money for her little brother. I'm awesome.) I hope he doesn't forget to pick up the ticket though...

- It's crazy hot outside and deadly cold inside. I'm going to be sick and then I'll have to cut a bitch. I have to cover my arms and chest at work to avoid the freezing breeze of the AC.

Thank you, universe, for this amazing day. I haven't had one like this for a very long time.

Nothing major happened, but it was without fail that's for sure!

Dilek had a nice day! How very strange of her! )

- Then there was awesome TV! Gossip Girl season finale! )

- But above it all, God created Gregory House. House season 6 finale aka the best show's awesome fanservice )

- Yup! That's my day for you. I'm going to bed now. A little hungry, but it's okay. I ate way too many green plums. Delishhhhhhhhhhhh!

- And now I randomly remembered Dean & Deluca and their delicious cinnamon apple muffin. What the hell?

- OH LOOKIE, MY NEW MOODTHEME! RICHARD & KAHLAN! I completely forgot about it! Such a nice reminder! ♥ Watch Legend of the Seeker, it's awesome.

- I've been reading MARK READS TWILIGHT for two days and it was a both fun and scarring experience. I now don't have any idea why I enjoyed those books. Fandom ruins everything.

If you want to read, start from August 2009 and go from there, it's so much fun (and sometimes dark when he mentions his abusive past and how it's so hard to be adopted, gay and a Christian at the same time) and even more amazing if you actually hate Twatlight.

Twilight.

Sorry.

Oh and S. Meyer wrote another book novella to accompany the other 4 and a half. It's about a character named Bree Tanner (whom I have absolutely no memory of) who appreared in Eclipse and got killed by one of the Volturri.

So sad.

It's about her short period of time as a vampire. How interesting!

Not.

edit: Amazon has just sent me an email
As you've shown an interest in Stephenie Meyer's books, we thought you'd like know about the exciting release of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner on 5th June 2010.

Fans of the "Twilight" saga will be enthralled by the riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character introduced in "Eclipse". With an irresistible combination of danger, mystery and romance, Meyer tells the devastating tale of Bree and the newborn vampire army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens.

Don't make me regret the day I bought those books, Amazon. It was a very vulnarable period of my life! I was moving back home and my life was changing, BUT NOW, IN MY RIGHT MIND, NO.

- He'll start reading Harry Potter soon and I'll be following that as well! I'm still waiting for my books to arrive. COME ON AMAZON, DELIVER THEM ALREADY!

- It smells like a bakery in here, wtf! I shouldn't eat anymore. I've gained so much weight it's crazy.

- Speaking of weight; I started exercising last week and in my first day of actually walking on the treadmill my sneakers blistered my poor ankles so bad, it was crazy. I'm now wearing high ankle socks to the gym.

And apparently I can't run for more than a minute. My heart literally aches. Plus, yesterday after a 30 minute work out I felt extremely bloated. What's up with that!? It was like my muscles were swollen and I couldn't stand straight.

I think that's what happens after sitting on my ass for 1.5 years without doing anything other than using stairs.

- It's mom's birthday this Sunday, happy times. And it's also [livejournal.com profile] awakencordy's birthday this month (22nd), festive times. Plus two other friends. So many people were born in April.

- Next week (and the week after) will be about training training training! There will be so much training that two of them will overlap. Crazy times. I wonder what purpose will they serve considering I still haven't received any analysis on any of the projects we're supposed to be doing in the near future. Lazy times.

- I have nothing else to add. I'm hungry. Eating apples make you even more hungry.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners.

Sick day

Jan. 29th, 2010 05:41 pm
thelake: (random: bunny in bed)
For the first time in almost 2 years I had to leave work because I was feeling too sick to stay. I think I got some kind of a stomach flu, don't know. Waiting for father to come home and diagnose. Doctor father comes in handy at these times ♥

I had a perfect 2 hour nap this afternoon and now I strongly believe that a good sleep can cure almost anything, I'm feeling a lot better.

I'm sure people at work were quiet shocked when I suddenly got up and left, because I'm pretty good at hiding my discomfort. It was pretty useful when I was in college and we were drinking, because whenever I felt sick I could just go to the bathroom, take care of my sickness and come back even better than I left. But this time it wasn't better, my hands were shaking and I felt dizzy so I said "hell with it, I don't even have work to do." so I got up and left (after letting my bosses know, of course.)

I love my workplace and how sincere everyone is, mostly because we don't have to file a vacation form whenever we are sick, or have to go to the doctor's in the afternoon, it's all in the family, therefore no stress. (And then again since I'm a computer engineer it helps that I'm always available on phone and can remote connect to the work and do stuff.)

I'm hungry, which is a good sign that I'm better. I want something warm, but not too spicy/smelly/aromatic. My only wish is that I don't get a headache and feel 100% better tomorrow. I don't want to ruin my weekend.

>> I can't believe it's the last week of 2009. Time goes by so fast, it's crazy! What are you planning for New Year's eve? For me, it's home, fireplace, TV, food, board games with family, PJs and Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in midnight. Pretty classic.

>> Two people from work apparently were engaged in the weekend and the bride was serving some chocolate to people (some kind of a tradition here, I had absolutely no idea.) and I'm 100% left out. That's pretty rude. I mean you ask people in the next cubicle and you intentionally skip my cubicle? What's up with that?
And I think this officially makes each and every eligible men around me ENGAGED or MARRIED. Thanks, Universe.

>> My brother made me watch this awesome video yesterday. It explains all dimensions from 1 to 10 in such a simple and fun way, take a look:

>> I watched Invention of Lying and Adventureland last night. Both were extremely boring and pointless movies, I had to skip the last 45 mins. or so just to see how they ended. I was expecting more from Invention of Lying, but Ricky Gervais is such a repelling person for me, even Jennifer Garner couldn't save the movie. The ideas were pretty awesome though, I wish it could be done by some other group of people... As for Adventureland, Kristen Stewart and Ryan Reynolds? Ugh, please no. Seperately they're okay (Ryan Reynolds is more than okay!), but together, ugh, no, a big no.

Eta: Oh great, I ordered new year presents online and they completely messed up the order. I hate it when it happens. Now I have to send some stuff back and wait for them to deliver the new ones which will probably happen after New Year's. Damn.

>> Such a rainy, but nice day today... I woke up at 8am and took a shower, then watched Merlin right before my boss called me up and told me about a problem in the system. Luckily it's not because of something I did, so it's going to be solved by somebody else I don't care.

>> Merlin vs. Morgana is epic. )

>> I don't have much to say about Dollhouse. But it needs a cut anyway... )

>> Also, I'm now using Windows 7 and I recommend it to everyone! It's a lot faster than both Vista (duh, worst OS ever) and XP. Plus, it's pretty! ♥

>> It's 11 and I haven't had breakfast yet, I'm hungry like a crazy person!

Best day!

I had the best day today, yay! ♥ It was my day off and it was totally worth it...

- My last driving lesson was a brilliant success! I actually drove all the way back from the driving course to the city! It was exciting! I think the key to "relaxed driving" is having someone with you who doesn't panic and doesn't give you some kind of advice after your each and every move. I actually made peace with the clutch pedal as well.

- I wrote. Yes, I actually sat down in the afternoon and wrote almost 1400 words without interruption ♥

- Have a downside to all of this as well, but it's not so important. I got my swine flu vaccine shot today and my left arm is extremely sore. It even hurts a little bit when I type... If I can get by tommorrow without any fever or fatigue, I'll be fine.

- The project I've been working on is officially over! My boss called me today and asked me something about it and I'm 90% sure that they deployed it without me and it.is.over. *happy sigh*

- Well, my arm hurts really bad at the moment so I'll stop using it for a while. I have a ton of stuff to download! I've been offline allday! D:
thelake: (random: cry justin cry)
Oh man, I'm so tired...

Work;

I've been working overtime almost everday this week (even on weekends) and work is still not over. I'm taking the whole day off for my driving lesson tomorrow (it'll be only an hour, but who cares? I can take a day off whenever I want.), but I'm still worried that I will have to come back here for some final touches. It's 5:35 pm and we're still waiting for an approval to deploy the project.

I can go on and on about this evil project and be the ultimate tl;dr person, but I won't. It's just... I'm so tired.

Not sad though, I feel 100% accomplished, which is what I love about my job.

Family;

I cried over my bitchy attitude towards my dad on Sunday, but we talked on the phone on Monday and he was happy, so we both got over it without a fuss. I'm happy about that ♥ I hated failing with the driving so I took my hatred out on him, I won't make that mistake again. I should punch my brother instead, at least he can punch back. Also he can drive better, so he deserves a punch. After 24 years, I can't believe I'm jealous of my brother because he drives better than me. *facepalms*

Friends;

My oldest college friend S is visiting next week. We'll probably meet this Sunday. I missed her, really. I don't usually long for their presence in my life, but lately I miss my life in college, so it'll be refreshing. I wonder what color she dyed her hair this time :)

Also I'm planning on getting together with [livejournal.com profile] glenien before she leaves for her holiday in Venice ♥ I want to visit Europe, too! *woes* ([livejournal.com profile] awakencordy, I'm not even asking you, I know what you're dealing with right now...)

Writing;

I only outlined some stuff, but no actual writing happened. I hope I can accomplish my goals for the challenge in [livejournal.com profile] writingfun. You should join!

Other;

I hope it won't rain on Saturday. Driving in rain is 192983947574 times harder. D:
thelake: (7+1: [beth] this is too much)
Excellent start to a weekend: I'm here at the office, troubleshooting something that isn't quite relevant to my work. I'm not complaining that much, YET, but if it's not resolved until 1pm, I'll be mad. I have to leave for my driving lesson and I will.

Aside from work, this is one of the most beautiful couples I know ♥ (I'm not sure if they're dating in RL, but they should!) Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jenniferkaos for the picture :)

thelake: (random: tembellik ve tavuk meleği dilek)
- I woke up at 8 am today and because of the daylight savings it's 7 now and I'm slightly annoyed, because I hate going back to sleep once I wake up. I think I should have a big awesome breakfast now since I don't have to leave the house for 2 more hours!

- I heard Merlin was awesome last night. When I don't watch it on the same night, it's awesome. When I watch it, it sucks. What kind of a world order is this?

- I simply don't want to go and spend 6 and a half hours learning about Oracle Reports on a Sunday. *sigh* But to be honest, I have nothing better to do, so yeah...
