I've just realized that I never talked about an individual episode of Lost on my journal, that's weird. So here we go, against all odds:
- Unlike the popular opinion among Losties I like Kate's episodes, I like her character. She is the least damsel in distress woman in the show... well, mostly... Yeah I know Juliet is bad ass and all, but she wasn't from Oceanic 815. She knew what she was going into and Rousseau was crazy.
- So yeah, Kate... and Claire. Claire and her hair extensions were all so pretty, I missed her. And at the very end when she showed up all Rousseau style with the gun and dirty hair and most probably crazy, it was pretty nice. I wonder if she is also "infected" like the guy at temple said about Sayid.
- I still can't feel the Juliet/Sawyer connection. I think it's because I watched Season 5 too quickly and less emotionally invested. It was just catching up and it didn't leave any sentimental marks on me. Yes he was in love and he was going to propose and all, yes it is sad, but that's just it. It doesn't matter how good Josh Holloway's acting was or how it is so not fair that Juliet was the one who originally wanted to leave the island30 years 3 years ago. Let's move on and leave Sawyer with his pain and GET SOME ANSWERS.
- During the temple scenes I always feel like I am at a level in Tomb Raider: The Lost Artifacts video game. Oh how I loved that game. Our copy was broken so we couldn't get to the end, but it was my favourite... Whatever, we're talking about Lost. I personally want to get out the temple as soon as possible and see what's going on around the island. I'm assuming they're trying to protect the temple from the black smoke now that Jacob is dead, but I'm still not very interested in it.
- And can people cut Jack some slack? He's dealing with all those emo moments and Jears and pills and I don't know, the weight of the world generally and people (Sawyer I'm looking at you) try to make him responsible for everything that has gone wrong. No, people (yes Sawyer, you), Jack is awesome and you just cannot change the fact. Even his alternative universe twin is so awesome that he is going to operate on Locke and make him as awesome as himself.
- I heard next week will be Locke's episode, exciting since we currently have 3 different Lockes on the show: Dead Locke, Black Smoke Locke, Alernative Universe Locke! That is a record!
- I finally decided which theory I'm supporting until the end of the season. Jim Connelly at medialooper.com said:
That makes a lot of sense and a very satisfying solution. Plus Juliet and Sawyer is officially together on the other side so what's there to worry about, right? Right, sure, what if this Sawyer, island Sawyer cannot blend into the awesome alternative universe where his alterna-twin and Juliet "have gone dutch"?
I hate you Lost, you eventually make me ask questions.
Eta: 1. How come Kate managed to spend so much time with that stolen cab is beyond me at this point. It didn't make any sense at all. She could have easily stolen another car from that guy who helped her get out of the handcuffs. Is it weird or were people a lot nicer back in 2004?
2. Claire trusted Kate way too much, I would have ran away after she dropped me off in that "middle of nowhere" place. She was still there, plus she just got into the car and was friends with her in no time. Maybe the island past is effecting both of them, maybe they are slowly and unconsciously remembering stuff.
3. People keep referencing to different ways of being a leader in front of Jack. I'm waiting for Jack to be the hero at the end, because come on, he was the hero in season 1.
Yup this was it.

Juliet set off the hydrogen bomb in 1977, she created what Darlton calls the “Sideways” timeline, where Oceanic 815 didn’t crash onto a now-submerged Craphole Island.
And you also know that the “Sideways” timeline is a) slightly different from what we’ve previously seen about Oceanic 815 (a neat way to get around some of the cast availability issues), and b) did NOT replace the original timeline: those who were on the Island in 1977 are still there, albeit in 2007.
So now what? To me, the answer lies in those two sentences at the top of this post, said by a dying Juliet to a shaken Sawyer: “We could get coffee sometime. We can go dutch.”
Here’s my theory about what’s going to happen: the two timelines will start bleeding into each other, and eventually characters in both timelines will be fully conscious of their doppleganger. And the closer a character was to the epicenter of the hydrogen bomb, the faster and/or stronger that bleeding is going to be.
That’s why Juliet said those things: she was the closest to the epicenter of the blast, so before she died, she already knew that she was going to meet Sawyer in the Sideways timeline.
That makes a lot of sense and a very satisfying solution. Plus Juliet and Sawyer is officially together on the other side so what's there to worry about, right? And timelines merging? THAT's the thing no one would have guessed? COME ON. We even wrote it dumbfuckers.

Date: 2010-02-11 05:18 pm (UTC)The problem I have with Jack is that he is a complete asshole who thinks he's God's gift to mankind. I don't mind if characters are asses. I can love and adore assholes. BUT I HATE THE UTTER LACK OF SELF AWARENESS. Jack is a controlling bastard who stalked his ex-wife, tried to control Kate when they were engaged off island and has the biggest hero complex, but yet he can't see any of this.
And I do think the universes will start bleeding together. But I don't know if Sawyer and Juliet will end up together in the sideways universe. I mean... why would they if their characters resemble who they were circa season 1. Sawyer was a con man who hated himself and therefore made other people hate him too. Juliet was a researcher who was focused on healing her sister. But she was a capable and fairly confident woman. Unless she falls for one of Sawyer's cons, what the hell is she going to see in him?

But I think I might like this one more, since it does seem like some people at least sort of remember (though not consciously) the island. And I agree that's probably why Claire trusted Kate so much. (Because that really bugged me at first, too, haha.)
And I so hope you're right about Jack being a hero at the end. I want that for him so badly!
