Obama was here..
Apr. 7th, 2009 09:52 amThe highlight of our week was Obama's visit to Turkey. (He's still here.) I've been reading lots of stuff since yesterday and for those who want to know more about what's going on, here are some articles:
1. President Obama’s Remarks in Turkey - I should say that he is an excellent speaker. The speech is political, yet so close to home. And pretty long :) But it's worth it.
2. Obama Impresses Many on Both Sides of Turkey’s Secular and Religious Divide - Obama is probably the most respected world leader in Turkey at this point. Hope wasn't only in the US, it was all around the world. Now it's in Turkey and I think things are going pretty good. Although the Armenien Genocide and Europian Union stuff is still a very dark gray area. I don't have enough information to discuss on both of those matters and I actually don't prefer to discuss neither of them.
3. America Seeks Bonds to Islam, Obama Insists - "Turkey is crucial to American interests on many fronts. It borders Iraq and Iran; it has deep influence in Afghanistan; and it is helping efforts to forge a peace deal between Israel and Syria."
I've scanned through some of other Europian newspapers, and articles were pretty good but comments, oh my people's comments :) Europian people, including Turks, are really angrier than any other nation.
4. Turkey's time has come - "One has only to look at Turkey's geographical location, wedged between the prosperous, democratic nations of the West and the turbulent, predominantly Muslim regions that lie further east, to understand why President Obama chose Ankara as his first port of call in the Islamic world since his election."
5. Obama reaches out to Muslim world - "The Turks are now delighted to discover that their policies are very similar to those adopted by Mr Obama."
Yup, that's enough politics for today!
