Movies!

Time Traveler's Wife

I've been avoiding all sorts of reviews, good or bad, until I see it for myself and as I expected, I really liked it!

Yes, the story advanced pretty fast and I'm not sure if someone who didn't read the book would find the love story satisfying or believable, but still, both Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams were amazing as Henry and Clare!

I loved how Clare reacted when she first saw Henry. The look, the pure excitement, the little skip she did before walking away, so cute and appropriate! ♥

Of course lots of stuff were pretty different from the book, but not entirely. I personally loved the fact that they left out the Gomez/Clare thing. It would deviate our focus and the movie didn't have enough time to justify Clare's actions. So that change was good, yes.

I actually don't clearly remember how Henry made Kendrick believe that he was a traveler, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't in the cat scan machine. (or maybe it was...) Anyway, it was cool and I approved it 100%!

My favourite part in the book was when younger Henry came and made love to Clare in the same bed with older Henry and she actually got pregnant from the younger Henry ♥ They didn't do the same bed thing, but still "Hi." "Hi." was there and my heart skipped a beat ♥

Also they didn't include the "18th birthday sex" thing, which, in my opinion, could be fun and sensual if they did. Instead of sex, they went with "kissing for the first time" which was pretty innocent and awesome as well ♥

Everything went downhill in a good way after Henry learned that he'd die when Alba was 5 years old. It was almost like a torture for my heart! I remember being devastated when I was reading the book and kudos to Eric Bana, he has done a great job delivering the emotions. The endless waiting, helplessness and all...

And Alba! Alba was just like I imagined her! A little copy of Henry! ♥ Her lightness and beauty was definitely from her mother's side, but her wits, courage and maturity was 100% Henry.

Also I'm glad that they went with a slightly happier ending than the books. In the book, Henry's last goodbye was with the letter and he couldn't see Clare until she is 80 years old. He only saw his daughter. But in the movie they went all the way and brought them together sooner than that, which made me happy! There was still hope that Henry would come to the future and see his family again :) (I clearly remember in the book where Henry says he doesn't usually travel to the future, that's why he was so sad to learn that he was going to die so soon.)

I would really like to see more drama when Henry lost his leg, but again it wasn't as severe as the books. In the books Henry practically had no feet, so he couldn't even walk, but in the movie he was somewhat okay? But still the fact that he was killed by Clare's father sucks. I'm so glad he didn't have a chance to reveal that, because I remember Clare knew it in the book... I'm not sure...

All in all, the movie was pretty good. The book had way too much material to fit in a 2 hour movie, but they summarized it very well and actors were amazing! I'll definitely buy the DVD when it comes out and put it right beside the book :) ♥

Up

Such a cute movie omg! It was fun and sad and then fun again! I cried multiple times and laughed a lot!

The relationship between Mr. Fredricksen and his wife Ellie were delivered so SO SOOOO WELL, it brought me to tears. Pixar knows how to do this animation thing, I tell you.

Russell! Oh Russell =)) "Hi, my name is Russell..." =)) He kept starting from the beggining, cute boy!

Oh and the Turkish dub was quite extraordinary. I don't know if I would had the same amount of fun if it was English, because most of the stuff I laughed at was solely because it was quite funny in Turkish!

The revealing moment of the colorful balloons were majestic! ♥ Although [livejournal.com profile] glenien hopelessly looked for some logic in all the things happening (LOL!) I enjoyed every little bit of it without asking any questions whatsoever!

Kevin! ♥ Those colors, non blinking eyes and her journey to reach to her kids, awww ♥

And of course the Adventure Book made me cry so much. Ellie thought her marriage was the best adventure she had and the way she told Fredricksen to have his own adventure was so real, so well done, so cute...

I love animations, sometimes even more than actual movies, because it's all about the pure and innocent feelings we usually forget about during the hassles of life :)

I highly recommend both of these movies! But with Time Traveler's Wife, I think it's best that you read the book first and then see the movie to live it fully and fill in the blanks yourself :)
