I'm reading LOST reviews on AV Club and this comment summarizes my feelings about the show 100%! It's not particularly spoilerish, but related to the latest episode "Across the Sea"
The character in this show are not that well developed (unless you consider a well developed personality trait "acts in whatever manner is convenient for the writers that week"). The characters actions have to be consistent in a way that tells an overall narrative. I have no investment in these characters because they do not know wtf is going on, and neither does the audience. I assumed at some point they were going to expound on why the character actions made sense relative to the overarching narrative and the information that they knew and the audience didn't, but the writers have basically just thrown up their hands and given up. How does Jacob know what he does and why does he manipulate the Oceanic crew onto the Island?

The only answer they seem willing to provide is "It's a magic island." /waves hands

I'm sorry but that is not enough, especially when they stated at the beginning of the series that the answer would have a scientific/pseudoscentific explanation. As a loyal viewer I feel entirely misled that I invested so much time into this series, relying on the writers assurance that the narrative would ultimately make sense and now it is turning into a giant cop-out.

How sad is that? I seriously don't care about anyone, I just want to see the end.

And to be honest I want to see how LOST writers will crash and burn in the end because their "it's magic!" explanation will not satisfy the fans.

Then Cara will come up and say "There's no such thing." I don't care if she lives in a magical world of confessors and wizards. She is right in every circumstance.
