I felt like reading it because;
1. It's a kids book so I could read it much quicker.
2. It sounded fun.
3. Greek gods.
4. I am extremely bored at work.
- Judging from the looks of the movie I had absolutely no idea Percy would be 12 years old! And throughout the book I completely ignored that fact.
- I was more interested in portrayal of the Greek gods instead of the main plot, lol, so I had so much fun when I figured out Zeus kept whining about his lost lightning bolt, Poseidon being all careless, wearing hawaiian shirts and sandals and finally Hades being the arrogant and hateful brother who has no time for pleasure in the Underworld because it was getting too crowded!
- I knew Percy would be Poseidon's son from page 12, and kind of got restless as the writer kept hinting at it and finally revealing it on page 104.
- Percy, Grover & Annabeth = Harry, Ron & Hermione. There's just no way of twisting and turning it, it just is.
- It was full of action which was fun (for my 12 year old brain) and all those mythical Greek creatures were very nicely portrayed.
I may continue reading other books when I'm bored at work, but now I'll start reading Hunger Games. I also began to read The Mortal Instruments series, but couldn't get myself to care about it that much, I can always go back pick it up again of course. I have way too much time in my hands.

Date: 2010-02-19 06:46 am (UTC)I'm still at the half of the mortal instruments book 1 and it's not horrible, but I need some more time to care about the characters, it just advances too quickly.
Oh I'll definitely check that one out, thanks! :D
