Friday is the best!
Jul. 24th, 2009 02:02 pmI had the best lunch today!
You know how I'm trying to connect with my co-workers, especially ladies since it's more fun. Today, I took another big step towards that goal!
I was having my lunch by myself again (since nobody leaves their desks before 12:30) but suprisingly Anna and bunch of other ladies decided to have an early lunch and we sat together. They never invite me to anywhere, which is pretty weird, but this time Anna asked me if I wanted to join them to have a cup of coffee later. Me being the social bug, I accepted. (It's going to be one year in September so I take it's normal to be invited out after 10 months! Please.)
Although I had to sit under the sun and everybody smoked, it was quite fun! We all had Turkish coffee and talked about all sorts of stuff. It's really refreshing to see those people out of the workplace and be able to connect with them in a personal level. I want to stay in this company for a long time and I definitely don't want to be like MF! People should know my name, I should know people around me! At least the ones on my floor.
While we were sitting and drinking our coffee, Anna thought I could be good with telling fortunes from cofee cups (we call it simply "Coffee Fortune" but it doesn't sound very good in English :P What do you guys call it? Does it have a name?). I know nothing about telling fortunes, but since I'm a good storyteller, I said okay, why not? They all closed their cups on the saucers and waited for me to tell them what's gonna happen in the future.
It's quite funny because although people don't believe in those fortunes, once you start talking, you can feel the expectation and hope around you. I talked about how they had plans and expecatations and how good things would come their way, etc. etc. I think I talked for 45 minutes straight and it was so much fun LOL! It's like writing tiny pieces of fiction from the vague shapes in the coffee cup! They were pretty impressed with my stories, so I'm expecting more invites in the future :))
It was really refreshing to be with people other than my computer all day! I know it's not a big deal for most of the people but it was a big accomplishment for me! I'm a very talkative person and sitting here all day, with the worst writer's block ever, doesn't really help me mentally.
And today's finally Friday. I kept thinking it was Friday since Tuesday! I don't know what's happening to me this week, but I'm a little airheaded and extremely lazy, both physically and mentally.
Random note: I'm listening to Britney's "Britney" album and I think it's the second best after "Oops I did it again"
