I'm not saying he shouldn't have gotten punished, just that the idea that we have to take justice into our own hands is troubling. I can imagine that if she would have gone to the authorities, it might have been an uphill battle, but the more women do go and speak up in court rather than behind the scenes, the more chances we'll have of shattering the 'she wanted it' myth.

What the guy (what was his name again?) did was horrible and yes, she's scarred for life. But by not reporting him, she locks herself in this dilemma and this silence that she just can't escape for the rest of the movie. And she draws the school's disdain because they all think she called the cops to stop their party - nobody knows why she really did it because she doesn't tell them.
