Mockingjay

I finished Mockingjay a few minutes ago... and I'm a mess. I want to curl up in somewhere and sob like a little girl.

I wasn't very impressed until I passed the half of the book, I wasn't even that sad when Peeta came back with his hijacked self, but...

Prim :(((((

I am so so so sooo crushed right now, it's insane.

I don't care about anyone, not Gale, not Peeta, not President Snow, NOBODY.

Prim died and I was convinced Katniss would kill herself one way or another. It all started with Prim. It all started with Katniss trying to protect Prim and now she is dead... I'm full of rage and my heart hurts.

Yeah it had a somewhat happy ending, but the idea behind the romance in Hunger Games is what I love the most. It's not romance at all. It's pure survival and that's what's supposed to happen in a world order like that. It's just like Gale said; Katniss chose the one who she cannot survive without. It wasn't love, it wasn't lust. I love that about Katniss and Peeta. I don't love Peeta, I'm attracted to him and his character is very well developed, but love? Passion? None. I don't desire him. Neither does Katniss.

I've always known Katniss and Peeta will eventually end up together (although I was quite unsure if Katniss would survive), but I've also known that Katniss will never ever fall in love with Peeta and she never did. I'm grateful for that consistency. She was never in love with anyone. It was always her family that kept her sane and alive, that's why I'm so devastated right now that Prim is dead.

On another note, I could totally do without the epilogue. What's up with writers lately? Do we really need an epilogue to all of this? Yeah having kids and stuff is cute and all, but it didn't ease my pain, not even a bit.

All in all, I love Hunger Games. I love how it's a post-apocalyptic world with real people and a completely bizarre way of living.

I was once again weirded out with all the camera action and "propos" but it was okay since THAT is what I'm supposed to feel when I'm reading it. People of Panem are so dependent on the media that it was eventually what triggered the war and the revolution.

I have to add I was furious with everything that happened in District 13. I could never justify what they did to the other districts. Start the revolution and then hide and let others suffer? How royal of you. I hated District 13 and I'm glad Coin died in the end.

I'm sure I'll think of other things later, but for now I can say that the book didn't disappoint ♥

Yeah, that's how I interpreted Katniss and Peeta. A lot of people seem to see it as this great love story, but I don't think Katniss really loved either of them.

I do think killing Prim was the wrong decision, since that WAS what started it all. (And that's probably why the author did it, but I see it as a case of taking it TOO far.)

And, okay, I'm one of the few who liked the HP epilogue, but I don't think it worked here, considering how much Katniss was against the idea of having kids. You can't just get over that in a couple of paragraphs.

But I didn't like the book that well. :(

I'm trying not to be negative about it.

Although I was extremely sad about Prim, I think it was pretty good decision to kill her. I don't know, I'd do it if I was the writer.

I've never seen any book series that had a really good last book. Can you name one? They're always mediocre.

Plus, I haven't read your review! Gonna go and do that now!

But I'm not going to let a book slack just because it's the last book. I didn't like it. I seem to be in the minority, but there you go. :)
